brighter futures

Brighter Futures is a Jersey charity supporting families, children and young people, currently working with approximately 150 to 160 families at any one time. The charity operates from The Bridge, alongside two external hubs at Communicare and Georgetown, and delivers Brighter Futures Friday family visits at La Moye Prison.

We provide coordinator 1:1 support alongside a range of free, evidence-based programmes and services designed to strengthen family relationships and improve mental health to better equip the parents and carers we work alongside.

The families supported are often facing complex and entrenched challenges, including
substance misuse, addiction, depression, financial hardship, domestic abuse and social
isolation. Where children do not experience a safe and supportive home environment, their
development, confidence and long-term prospects are significantly affected.

The charity focuses on three core areas of work:

  • Parent–Child Relationship programmes, helping parents and carers recognise and value
their role as their child’s first and most important educator.
  • Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing programmes, strengthening social and emotional
wellbeing and building resilience to manage adversity.
  • Second-Chance Learning programmes, providing practical skills and pathways to progress
in education, employment and everyday life.

Since 2008, we have been delivering sustained, family-centred support across the Island, working alongside the main carer to create long-term, measurable change.
