SightSavers

Worldwide, 1.1 billion people have a visual impairment that could be treated or prevented.

Unless eye health services improve around the world, 61 million people could be blind by 2050 because of global population growth and ageing.

Sightsavers’ vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes, and where everyone can participate equally in society.

Sightsavers has achieved amazing things. With more than 76 years of experience, they are proud to be a leader in their field. They work in more than 30 countries in Africa and South Asia to train health workers, provide eye operations, support people with disabilities, improve women’s health and more.

Sighsavers’ treat eye conditions such as cataracts and tackle debilitating diseases, many of which cause sight loss. To do this, they work with governments and local, national and international partners to carry out eye operations and distribute treatments where they’re needed.

They help to improve health services so they are sustainable and make education more inclusive for children with disabilities and also advocate for the rights of women, girls and people with disabilities.
